Annaliese's psychosocial services are built upon over thirty-two years of accredited experience in Social Work, Counselling, and Management, equipping her with a broad and diverse skill set. Her extensive background includes roles as a lecturer, a Registered Clinical Social Worker in both medical and mental health settings, and a School Counsellor. She has also provided support at an LGBTQ organisation and has experience working with neurodivergent individuals. Furthermore, as the Director of a Counselling Centre, she honed her expertise in counselling, therapy, and business management, ensuring a comprehensive approach to her practice.

Annaliese provided professional representation of Injecting Drug Users as a Key Population at a “Centers for Disease Control and Prevention” (CDC) and “President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief” (PEPFAR) workshop. The workshop focused on advising on a National Plan for Key Populations at Risk for HIV, where Annaliese contributed expertise to address the specific needs and challenges faced by this vulnerable group and succeeded in MMT/OST (Methadone Maintenance Treatment/ Opioid Substitution Treatment) being recognised in South Africa.

She contributed to the drafting of the South African National Strategic Plan for HIV, STIs, and TB for the 2012–2017 period.

As a member of the Technical Work Group of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), she represented People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) as a key population. She also participated as a field researcher in the Rapid Assessment and Response (RAR) on HIV and injecting drug users in three South African provinces.
